As part of an engaging English Social Studies project, our Grade 3 students were challenged to imagine and design their own dream communities. After carefully planning the layout of their ideal towns—complete with homes, parks, schools, and other features—they reflected on how their creations compared to the communities they live in today.
This activity encouraged students to think critically about what makes a community functional, enjoyable, and inclusive. It also sparked thoughtful conversations about the differences between reality and imagination, and how communities can be shaped by the needs and dreams of the people who live in them.
